numbers add up to nothin'

A work-wide e-mail that we all received moments ago:

Good morning/afternoon,

We wish to thank everyone for getting into the spirit of things as they decorate their areas for the upcoming holidays. With Halloween just around the corner, and many decorations already being displayed, we want to remind you of the limitations that need to be adhered to in respect of individual beliefs.

Please do not use any decorations that are considered religious. No ghoulish or "scary" decorations should be displayed. These include any reference to tombstones or coffins, as well as skeletal or monster references. That leaves plenty of opportunity for fall decorations, neutral costumes or the typical witches and black cats - as well as jack-o-lanterns, bats, etc.

Enjoy your holidays, and thank you for contributing to the spirit of fall, making our sites a pleasant place to visit.

Wait...witches, black cats and bats are okay, in other words, "not scary," but tombstones and skeletons are off limits?

What if someone is Wiccan or some other wacky pagan religion? Wouldn't stereotypical portrayal of witches be offensive to them?

I think you should just paint everything beige and be done with it.

Damn political correctness.
